Museum Burg Zug - History is fun!

The winding castle on the edge of Zug's old town is the oldest surviving secular building in the town of Zug and one of its landmarks. Once the seat of medieval lords and later the representative residence of important Zug families, Zug's historical museum has been housed in the castle since 1983.

Zuger Kirschtorten Museum

The museum is open daily during store opening hours.

Heinrich Höhn, the inventor of the Zuger Kirschtorte, took over the "Kaffee-Wirtschaft zur Spindel" in 1913 and set up a small pastry shop with his wife. He was fascinated by the local kirsch and spent several years experimenting with a cake soaked in kirsch. Two years passed before he launched the first Zuger Kirschtorte on the market. The success story began.

Kunsthaus Zug

The Kunsthaus Zug houses, exhibits and communicates regional, national and international art from classical modernism to the present day - in the most beautiful surroundings of Zug's old town. Thanks to the Kamm Collection Foundation, the Kunsthaus Zug is home to the most important collection of Viennese Modernism outside of Austria in Europe - Klimt, Schiele, Hofmann and Kokoschka are temporarily presented in temporary exhibitions.

Museum of Prehistory(s)

Archaeological finds from the Canton of Zug from the Palaeolithic to the Early Middle Ages are presented in the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Prehistory(s) Zug.

One focus of the permanent collection of national importance is the pile-dwelling period. On display are finds from three UNESCO World Heritage sites, including the Late Bronze Age settlement of Zug-Sumpf, and other highlights such as the Neolithic double axe from Cham-Eslen. With wooden components of a Roman mill and clay statuettes from a sanctuary, the Roman period Cham-Hagendorn is also represented by outstanding exhibits.

Cham Brickworks Museum

The Brickworks Museum near Cham is a place of adventure for the whole family. For adventures at the pond, playing with clay, the brick train, the dwarf workshop and, of course, discovering the history of brick production in the museum.

Museum of Prehistory(s)

Located in the heart of Zug's old town. Directly on the lake. With a show hatchery.

Whitefish, pike and trout spawn here. And the famous Zuger Rötel. The museum takes you back to fishing in 1900, with rarities and exotic collector's items. So that you can see the lake with different eyes.

Africa Museum Zug

That's Zug too. There is an Africa museum in the middle of the outer old town.

It is run by the women's order "St. Peter Claver Sodality".
The sisters do good in Africa and want to draw attention to the cultural diversity of Africa. They do this with: Masks and fetishes. Carvings and jewelry. Ivory and ebony. Musical instruments and stuffed animals. From Congo, Nigeria, Angola, Benin, Cameroon etc. And suddenly you imagine yourself in another world!
